Jeffree Star Lip Ammunition Review

Hi Everyone,
* Disclaimer: I know some people don't like Jeffree Star, if so then maybe this review isn't for you, sorry. x

Can you believe it's nearly the end of January already? I can't, it doesn't seem two minutes since it was Halloween, then Christmas! I haven't posted as much as I would of liked this month, but we are nearly finished my office and were painting in there tomorrow, so I will finally be able to take all the photos and write all the blog posts I want. I wanted to do this review on Wednesday, but the lipstick wasn't here yet so I couldn't. It's here now though so lets get on with it!

I love watching Youtube videos and I always really enjoy Jeffree Stars content. I appreciate his creativity and his honest, no-nonsense reviews. I've always wanted to try one of his products, but I assumed because I live in the UK I wouldn't be able to without a huge customs charge. I discovered BeautyBay not long ago and now I have a wishlist as long as my arm. I can finally get products I've always wanted to try! I found Beauty Bay very good, my lipstick was £16 and included free delivery, I will definitely be ordering from them again.
As soon as I saw that Jeffree was bringing out lipsticks I knew I would have to get one, and when I saw the shade Celebrity Skin was one of them, I knew the makeup Gods had intervened and it was fate! I am always going to pick a lipstick over any brand of liquid lipstick (even though I am starting to get into liquid lipsticks now that I can apply them more easily!)

I was so excited when my order arrived. It came in the box pictured below and includes the shade name and the ingredients. I think it's worth mentioning that Jeffree's products are Vegan and cruelty-free.

It was love at first sight! The lipstick packaging itself is really nice. It's exactly what I'd expect from Jeffree Star. It's loud, in your face and vibrant. It's supposed to look like a hot pink bullet! I've seen mixed reactions to the packaging, but I really like it. You are definitely going to get a reaction if you take this out of your bag on a night out! The packaging is a statement in itself.

Celebrity Skin was first bought out as part of Jeffree's liquid lipstick range, which I don't have yet. It is a gorgeous brown nude or as I call it a classic 90's nude! If you were a child in the 90's you'll know what I mean! The colour is gorgeous it's the type of shade that I always go for because it really goes with anything.

The colour glides onto the lips and is very comfortable and smooth to wear. It has a lovely satin finish. It's always advisable to use a lip scrub beforehand though as these types of lipsticks will cling onto dry chapped lips. I didn't really notice much of a scent with mine, which I actually prefer as I do get headaches. As always I like to really test out things if I am doing a review. I ate and drank while wearing this and kept checking my lipstick and not much changed. It is incredibly long lasting and very pigmented. One swipe gives you instant coverage, but it is buildable. So you can build it into a darker nude if you wish.

^ This was about two swipes ^
Is it worth the money?

For me yes. I won't be buying the full collection, as I don't have the funds, but as a treat for yourself or a gift for someone, I think this is worth the money. I would 100% repurchase this.
You can find the full Jeffree Star range Here on Beauty Bay if you are interested.
What lipsticks are you rocking at the moment?

Basic Homemade Chocolate Biscuits

Hi Everyone!
After the fun I had making the Basic Party Cupcakes for Blogmas - the post is HERE. I thought I would feature another super basic recipe today. These are even easier than the cupcakes! I honestly can't remember where I got the recipe for these from, I think it was from a magazine about 10 years ago but I'm not sure. I just want to add, I don't bake lots of in depth recipes, hence why these are Basic!

Who doesn't love biscuits? Ok, maybe there's a few of you, but most people like a biscuit! These would look super cute accompanying cups of tea for guests.
You can leave them plain, but they do taste even nicer decorated with chocolate!
* If you are a seasoned baker, then these are probably waaaay to easy for you, so you may want to just skip this post!
You will need
100g butter
50g caster sugar
175g self-raising flour (I know plain flour makes more sense but I tried plain flour to see if it makes a difference and I didn't find them as nice!)
A cookie cutter
rolling pin
line a tray with Greased baking sheet
Makes about 15
Preheat oven to 230 C
Mix together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. The way to tell is that the mixture will go a slightly lighter yellow.
Add flour, then it's time to roll your sleeves up and get your hands dirty! (The worst part for me!) Use your hands to form the mixture into a dough. It might seem like it's never going to come together, but it will!
Place your dough onto a floured surface and roll it out. Then time for the fun bit, using your cookie cutter! I make my biscuit a good few centimetres thick, as they then have a soft spongy centre. Place your shapes onto the lined tray and pop them in the oven.
Now, ovens vary, so mine could be different to yours. Mine are done in about 10 mins, yours might take a little longer. Once your biscuits are golden and slightly firm they are ready. Take them out and let them cool.
You can eat these as they are or you can melt some chocolate and add this to the tops like I have (They are nicer with a little chocolate on top!) I've also added sprinkles to make them prettier!

And there you go, super simple biscuits! If you make these, then let me know, I'd love to see.

Being an Anonymous Blogger

Hi, Everyone!

I haven't been able to publish as many blog posts this month as I had planned, which is annoying, I feel like I have a million and one things to do, but I'm not really getting anything done! Does anyone else ever feel like this?

It's currently nearly 3:30 am and it's snowing outside (hopefully, it sticks!) I've decided to write a post I've been meaning to write for a while, all about being an anonymous blogger.

Although I completely understand that people who visit your blog and read your content want to see a photo of the person behind the laptop screen, so they can get to know you, it's worth remembering that just like there are bloggers who don't have a problem posting photos of their face, there are also a few of us who kind of do have a problem with it.

I can only speak for myself here, but being an anonymous blogger doesn't mean I am being anti-social or trying to appear mysterious, I just don't want my face on the internet. Even my Facebook profile pic doesn't feature my face! It has nothing to do with being ashamed of being a blogger either. My family and Husband know and if anyone asked me, I'd have no problem with telling them that I blog.

I guess being anonymous makes me feel safe. There are people from my present and past that I would rather not read about say, my mental health and plans for the future. Also, I'll be completely honest here, I am quite insecure about my looks and we all know the internet can be a horrible place. In order for me to be able to blog, I need to feel comfortable in doing so.

So please spare a thought the next time you might question not seeing a bloggers photo, there may be a legit reason why they want to be anonymous.

I am sure that you'll get to me in time anyway, without seeing my face!

Are you an anonymous blogger? Tell me below!

What I Wish I Could Tell My Younger Self...

    Hi, Everyone!

I don't know what's wrong with me today but I am feeling quite nostalgic. I am nearing 30 and I've been thinking about how different I used to be when I was younger, I was literally another person.

It got me thinking, imagine if we could travel into the past and sit down with our younger selves at different stages in our lives and give ourselves some advice. Would things turn out differently?
    A walk into the past...

    • I would tell myself to save money. I would sit 18 year old me down and tell me that I need to save money instead of spending it on things I don't really need. I mean, did I need that many bags and shoes, really?

    • I'd go back to 12 year old me and say 'Girl put down the tweezers! Do not pluck your eyebrows. They're thin in the future because you over plucked them for years and thick eyebrows are a thing in the future. Yes really, don't look at me like that!'

    • I'd go back to my early 20's when I joined Facebook, and tell myself that I do not need to put every single thing that pops into my head as a status. When I look back it's so embarrassing the sort of status' I would write! I barely sign in now!

    • When I first got together with my now Husband and left school we went out a lot and ate A LOT of junk! It was our first taste of freedom and we would eat so much rubbish. I would tell myself to make healthier food choices and keep going to the gym because in the future I am going to be overweight.

    •  I'd tell myself to visit more places as later in life my anxiety is that bad that I barely go any ware.

    • I would go back to 2015 when I previously tried blogging (The first Roar Dinosaur!) I would tell myself not to get too stressed and delete my blog. If I'd persisted then I wouldn't have had to start from fresh over a year later!

    • I would tell myself to go to the Doctor years earlier than I did about my depression. If I'd gone on medication earlier than I did it would have saved me and those around me a lot of hassle.

    • I'd visit teenage me and tell myself to not hate the way I looked.

    • I would also tell teenage me not to worry so much about grades, in my case, it really hasn't mattered. I never went to university and I managed to get my dream job.

•Above all, I would tell myself to enjoy life more and not be as angry at the world!
There are other more personal things of course, but these are the things I felt comfortable sharing.
What would you tell your younger self?

How to keep your New Years Resolutions

Hi, Everyone!
It's the 5th day of a new year and a lot of us are still very motivated to keep our resolutions, but what happens when the novelty wears off and life gets in the way?

I've come up with a list of ideas to try and help us keep our New Years Resolutions:

Don't break the Bank:

A lot of resolutions do require some sort of funding, for example, joining the gym. But try not to spend a fortune on it, assuming that because you've invested a lot, you'll stick to it! Try a test run for a few months, see if it's something you actually like and can realistically see yourself sticking to it, if it is, you can invest more money as you go along.

Check in with your resolution:

If it's something you're serious about like losing weight, keep a notebook dedicated to your resolution. Check in every 3 months (or however often you like) and set yourself goals for the next 3 months. If you break up the year like that it keeps it more manageable and less daunting. It also keeps you up to date with how well you are doing and what you could maybe do better.
Don't put too much pressure on yourself. I spoke about this during Blogmas when I wrote about my own resolutions HERE. By putting pressure on yourself, you're not going to enjoy the change you've made and the challenge of doing it. Plus you're more likely to fail if your putting an unhealthy amount of pressure on yourself. Don't get me wrong, being motivated and determined is great, but being unkind to yourself isn't going to help you in the long run. On the same note, don't accept pressure from other people that know about your resolution/s either.

 The more the merrier!:
Sometimes we are more likely to succeed if we have a support group of people aiming towards the same goal. If you have friends, family or co-workers who you know have made the same resolution, perhaps you could join forces and do it together. It helps to have someone to talk too and you can motivate each other. Don't forget there are also online forums and Twitter chats too!
It's never too late:
If you fail 20 times this year don't despair! Just learn from it and start again. Just because you fail doesn't mean you have to wait until next year to restart! Likewise, if you want to set a resolution in June, DO IT, just because it's not January doesn't mean you can't have a resolution. Basically, it's never too late for a fresh start or bettering yourself.
Also, I wanted to say, if you realise your resolution isn't something you want to do anymore or feel that at this stage in your life you are unable to achieve it, stop! There is no shame in failing something. Don't worry about what other people will say, who cares?!
What are your New Years Resolutions?

How I Like To Relax

 Hi, Everyone!

Today I thought I would talk about relaxation and how I try to wind down. I am one of those people who always feels stressed even when there's nothing to be stressed about! I find it incredibly hard to sit and do nothing, even when I watch a film, I like my laptop switched on and I work on my blog or a project. I am sure you'll agree when you have a blog or work from home, it's so hard to turn the laptop off and put your phone down.

Below are a few things I enjoy doing to try and wind down:

Although I bathe everyday, it's rare I just sit in the tub for a long time and unwind. When I do get the chance to do this, I like to make it different to a normal bath. I'll add a bath bomb from Lush or Along Came Betty, which makes it a bit more special and I'll either read or watch Youtube videos on my phone or Tablet. I have a lot of joint and muscle problems so this type of bath is always a welcome treat.

Setting the Mood:

Sometimes in order to try and relax, we need to set the mood to help us psychologically. I'll light some candles and breathe in deeply and on the outward breath, I'll imagine all my stresses being released from my body. This actually works, I try and do this when I feel anxious as well. Scented candles and incense can help relax me too.

Drawing and Creating:

My job is a book illustrator and it can be quite stressful. However drawing is one of my favourite pastimes. I can get lost in creating a drawing or painting for a few hours and I don't really think about anything but that. It's one of the few times I actually put my phone down for a long period of time! After drawing to a brief for a book it's wonderful to actually just draw what I want and not have to worry how good it is or whether the proportions are correct! I LOVE flicking through fashion magazines, finding an image that inspires me and then drawing it. I like trying out new things, my sketchbook is a place to just draw what I want and be free and imperfect.

^I drew this image of the wrestler Bret Hart for my Husband.

^ An image I drew from a magazine I still haven't finished her hair though, oops!

 Writing and Planning:
I like writing down Blog ideas and planning different projects I'm doing. I class this as winding down because I enjoy it and it's not stressful. What can be stressful though is the next stage when I try and put those projects into practice. I used to write a diary too which I recommend for unloading and winding down, however, I don't really do this anymore as I don't get time.

My favourite Magazine is Blogosphere. I get so much from it, I've never got so much value for money from a magazine before. I am still reading through the latest issue which has Zoella as the cover star. I like to read through it in the morning or at night with a cuppa, I learn so much from it. The images are always beautiful to look at too! If you don't already read it, I highly recommend you get yourself a copy, you can buy yours HERE I also adore getting lost in a book, I always have. I have way too many books -3 bookcases and numerous storage boxes to be exact! I tend to read just before I go to sleep. Although I don't manage to read books as quick as I used to, I still finish them quite quickly. My Mum and Nan read a book then pass it on to each other so we all read the same novel then discuss it, kind of like a book club. Then the book goes to the charity shop.

How do you wind down?

Christmas 2016 Photo Diary

Hi, Everyone!
Happy New year!
How is 2017 treating you so far? I am currently trying to build and organise an office space with my Husband. Somewhere I can do my Blog and Illustrate books and somewhere my Husband can use too.
December seemed to pass me by in a flash. My favourite time of year and it was over in the blink of an eye! The presents have since been opened and put away in new homes, decorations have been taken down and packed away, all the yummy snacks have been eaten, Christmas films watched and everything is back to business as usual.
I find January such a weird month. Nothing really happens after the hustle and bustle of December. And although it's a new year and fresh start it can be a bit daunting. Plus I am really missing Christmas!
I originally planned to share my Christmas with you in photo diary format straight after Christmas, but time wasn't on my side. So although it's probably considered a bit late to put this post up, I thought I would publish it now anyway for those of us who are having serious Christmas withdrawal symptoms!

What did you do on Christmas day? Tell me below, I'd honestly love to know!
